Of 208 countries and territories tracked, 136 still issue both entry and exit stamps — 65% of the world. Physical passport stamps remain the global norm.
The wave of change is concentrated: 29 Schengen countries + UK + Malaysia are in active phaseout. 14 have fully stopped — four of them (Israel, Iran, Cuba, North Korea) for geopolitical reasons. Singapore is the only country with a confirmed gap between exit (2019) and entry (2022) stamp elimination. Uruguay joined the stopped list ~2024, following Argentina's 2022 lead.
