| 1 | 1 | 1st Preference | Aaditya Sinha | 26BDS1125 | 1st Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-12 | I want to join MIC as it is a very prestigious club as told to me by my seniors and peers alike. I have had an eye on it for a very long time and have been waiting for an opportunity to join it. REMICS hosted by the club really impressed me and I have decided to join this club. Although I am still developing my technical skills, I believe i can contribute to the club through my interest in Design and visual creativity. More over I see MIC as a place to improve my all over skills and i am hoping to switch over to tech department in my second year if i get the chance to. I hope contribute to MIC simultaneously learn from seniors and other clubs. | I want to join the Design Team because I genuinely like the kind of creative work MIC does. I have seen the posters, graphics, and other designs created by the club, and I feel that it really matches my own interests. I see this as an opportunity to improve my skills, I want to experiment, most importantly, I don't just want to learn I want to contribute. | I believe I can be a valuable addition to the team because I am really easy to work with and I have seen the type of design MICs make and I have similar taste. I enjoy experimenting with ideas and finding ways to turn them into visually appealing designs. I also believe that being a good team member is not just about having skills, but also about being open to criticism and work on the mistakes. I may still have a lot to learn, but I am eager to improve, take responsibility, and contribute wherever I can. I would bring my own perspective and ideas to the team while also learning from the people around me. | I hope to gain practical experience by working on real projects on a greater scale than I make. I want to learn new techniques, understand different design approaches, and improve through feedback from experienced members. I already have a few design concepts and creative ideas that I'd love to develop and present, and I'd be excited if any of them become part of MIC's work. | No I dont have any previous Design that I worked on. All of my projects that I made and showed to my friends are saved on my old pc which is inaccesible now. But I am planning to make new projects with the help of Adobe Illustrator after my cat, and if i make some i will show during interview or pre interview. | So i do have some websites which are always open on my brave app and when i get stuck or when i have to start i start from there. Also I look through my previously saved reels on my insta and if I still get Artist block I usually go out to clean my mind but since in am in a deadline I would Just listen to some music and get back to work. | 5–7 hours | I have been keeping up with MICs socials and I have seen the type of work they do and I do something similar to it. Firstly the Three reels and one poster format , plus I was really impressed with one of the posters made by mic that is microcraft and I want to replicate it in my way, so i would make a retro version with some game ui and pixel art type. | Other | I would be open to feedback and willing to make changes when they are needed. However, if major changes are requested just before publishing, I would first discuss what specifically needs to be changed and explain how much time those changes would realistically take, especially if they require reworking the entire concept or composition. For minor changes such as typography, colors, spacing, images, or small layout adjustments, I would be happy to make them and try to complete them quickly. But if there are major changes I would talk to The head to sort things out. | I don't regularly use AI tools for my design work. For inspiration and references, I usually prefer exploring different design websites and platforms, where I can find existing design styles, layouts, typography and visual ideas. | ||||
| 2 | 2 | 1st Preference | Aathish T | 25BCE5638 | 2nd Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-12 | I want to join MIC’s Design team because I genuinely enjoy being creative and experimenting with design. I’d love to work on things like posters, social media posts, event creatives, and help make the club’s ideas look visually interesting. At the same time, I want to learn more, improve my design skills, and work with people who are also interested in design. I feel MIC would be a good place for me to learn, contribute, and have fun while doing something I enjoy. | I enjoy being creative and trying out different ways to make an idea look visually appealing. I want to join the Design Department because it would give me a chance to work on real designs for events and projects while also learning from other people in the team. I’d like to improve my skills and contribute something that people actually get to see and use. | I’m someone who is willing to learn, take feedback, and put in the effort to get a design right. I also like experimenting with different ideas instead of settling on the first thing that comes to mind. I think I can bring creativity, consistency, and a willingness to help wherever the team needs me. | I hope to improve my design skills by working on actual projects and learning from people who have more experience than me. I also want to get better at understanding briefs, working within deadlines, and designing for different types of audiences. In return, I’d like to contribute by creating posters, social media content, event creatives, and helping out with whatever design work the team needs. | I don’t have any formal design experience yet, but I’ve experimented with designing posters, presentations, and other creative content on my own. I’m interested in learning properly and getting experience by working on real projects with the team. | First, I’d take a few minutes to understand exactly what the design needs to communicate and who it is meant for. Then I’d quickly look for some references and inspiration to get a direction in mind. I’d write down a few rough ideas and choose the one that seems clearest and most practical for the deadline. After that, I’d make a very rough layout with the main text, hierarchy, and placement before worrying about colours, fonts, or small details. That way, I’d have a clear starting point instead of spending too much time trying to make the first idea perfect. | 5–7 hours | I’d first go through the brief and identify the key information that needs to stand out, like the event name, date, venue, and registration details. Then I’d decide on a visual direction based on the theme and audience and look at a few references for inspiration. I’d make a rough layout focusing on hierarchy and readability, then choose the fonts, colours, and graphics. After creating the poster, I’d check the spacing, alignment, spelling, and readability before making final changes and exporting it. | Canva, Figma, Other | I’d try not to take the changes personally. If the department head feels that something needs to be changed, I’d first understand why and what they want the final design to achieve. I’d then make the revisions and try to keep the parts of the original design that still work. If I feel a particular change could affect readability or the overall design, I’d explain my concern and suggest an alternative rather than simply rejecting the feedback. Since it’s a team project, I think being open to feedback and communicating properly is more important than being attached to one particular version of a design. | Yes, I use AI tools occasionally, mainly during the ideation stage. They can be useful for brainstorming concepts, exploring different directions, or getting unstuck when I don't have a clear starting point. I prefer to use them as a source of ideas rather than relying on them to create the entire design. I still want the final design to be something I have thought through, edited, and made decisions about myself. | ||||

I mean outa all the clubs this has the most unique and innovative application process instead of some lame ahh google form lol. thats exactly why i wanna join this. | cuz im creative in general and have a thing for art in general | i can make the design feel natural while still keeping it unique and user-immersive, im good at color grading and making dynamic designs too | id like to gain some experience of how it feels to work in a professional group and how to put my creativity to use....i can contribute by makin some stunnin design works that could single handedly pull in new audience | nah im new to this stuff....though ive made some personal works | prolly choose some 4 random colors and think of wht would impress me if i had to judge the work n make smth outa tht idea....even then if i feel stuck imma just draw smth n start adding random stuff to it till it leads to somewhere ig lol | 2–4 hours | first ill read the brief properly to get all the imp info like event name, dates, venue, prize pool n qr code. then imma search for some cool tech or neon aesthetic refs on pinterest for inspiration. after tht ill pick a dark base color n some bright neon accents so it gives that high energy hackathon vibe.(or any other vibe or design thts in the current trend) next ill make a rough layout in my head or on paper to place the main title at the top, a cool visual in the middle, n details/logos at bottom so it stays readable n not cluttered. then ill hop onto canva to build the design, add graphics, tweak contrast n do some color grading to make the text pop. once it looks clean ill re-check all details n export high res png for socials n pdf for printing. | Canva, Other | ill first get a hold on what the major concern of the head is and try to rectify it by makin a change not soo drastic but yet fixes the problem.....if that still doesnt help imma upload my work as reference n generate an ai re-work with proper context | i dont completely rely on it...but i use it here n there in any step if i feel like its missing a 'wow' element or to make my work easier or quicker....but ill make sure the overall work feels humane and real and not robotic chatgpt-fied
| 4 | 4 | 1st Preference | Alisha Joseline | 26BCE5014 | 1st Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-11 | I want to explore myself into the technology and using the outcomes, i want to make solutions for the real time problems . | I want to join the design department to fully express my creativity and apply the skills I have gained over the years, contributing to the growth and success of the team. | I bring a strong mix of creativity and practical design skills, along with a collaborative mindset. I’m not only able to generate fresh ideas but also turn them into effective solutions, and I’m motivated to help the team succeed as a whole. | I want networks with people, make a lot of connections with my peers, and I hope to gain new perspectives and sharpen my design skills by learning from the team. | I won poster design competitions in class 7 and 8, and in class 8 I created a video for my school’s IDP ceremony, which strengthened my creativity and design skills. | In the first 15 minutes, I will find an idea and make a structure on what i am going to work with because that decides the flow of my work. step 2: | 2–4 hours | First, I look at the brief and note the important details like theme, date, and place. Then I think of ideas and choose a clear layout with bold text. I pick colors and fonts that match the energy of the hackathon, add visuals to show speed and innovation, and make sure everything is easy to read. After quick feedback, I fix small things and finally export the poster for print and online use | Other, Adobe Illustrator, Canva | It highly depends on the changes that they are making, if the changes are small and not a big deal, I would take the feedback positively, ask clarifying questions, and make the changes while keeping the deadline in mind. if it is beyond my abilities, I will share my concern regarding this to the head and find alternative ways to fix the problem. in both ways, I am ready to take the initiative and work forward. | yes, in rarer case, I use AI tools mainly for brainstorming and quick drafts, but in most of the cases, I rely on my own skills to create and polish the final design. | ||||

| 8 | 8 | 1st Preference | C S Harshitha | 25BAI1718 | 2nd Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-11 | I never began designing because I believed I was naturally creative. I started because I didn't like spending hours on a project only for it to turn out looking average. So I kept changing my work until it felt good. At some point design became something I really liked. I have made presentations, journal pages, book covers and other visual content in Canva and every project showed me how design can make an idea easier to understand, not just more attractive. I am applying to MIC because I want my work to be seen outside of my laptop. I want to make designs for events, real people and real effects while growing by working with people who push me to get better. I am not someone who's happy, with the first version, I like improving my work taking in feedback and making visuals that people don't forget. | I started doing design work because I wanted the things I made to look as good as the time I spent on them. At first I worked on making my presentations better. Then I started making journal layouts, book covers and other things that people would see. I like taking an idea that's not very good and making it look nice and easy to understand. I want to be part of the Design Department because I would get to make designs that people actually see and use every day. I would also get to learn from designers and make my own design skills better, over time. | I do not usually stop at enough. I go back to my designs a few times. Fix small things like spacing and fonts and alignment and colours until my designs feel right. I am open to criticism because I see feedback as a way to improve my designs. I think feedback helps me make my designs better. I am consistent with my designs. I am reliable with deadlines. I really enjoy figuring out how to solve a problem with my designs. I do not just want to make a page look pretty. I want to solve the problem with my designs. I like to work on my designs until they're just right. My designs are important, to me. I want my designs to be the best they can be. | I want to find out what it is really like to design as part of a team. I am interested in a place where things happen fast. Every design has a reason. Most of the time I have worked alone so I want to learn from designers. I want to see how they handle their work and how they check their work. I also want to improve at working with time limits. As a result I will be someone that the team can trust. I am ready to accept advice I want to gain knowledge. I will be responsible, for my work instead of waiting to be told what to do. | Yes. Most of my design experience has been through personal and academic projects. I’ve made presentations, journal layouts, book covers, Instagram posts, and some simple video edits, mostly using Canva. I enjoy working on visual content and turning my ideas into something I can actually see. I’m still improving my skills, but I’ve learned a lot through creating and trying different things on my own. | I do not usually spend much time planning everything out before I start working on the canvas. I will open the canvas. Put down a few things that I think might work for the project. Then I will start trying out colors and layouts and fonts and images for the canvas. If something does not look right on the canvas I will change it. Try another direction for the canvas. When I am working on the canvas I find that within the fifteen minutes I usually have a rough idea of what I want to build on the canvas. Then I can develop the canvas project further, from that point. | 5–7 hours | I will start by looking at the information that really needs to be shared through the poster and build my design around it. I like to keep my designs simple, so I won’t add things just to fill space. I’ll try different layouts, colours, fonts, and elements until I find a direction that matches the hackathon and the overall vibe of MIC. I’ll keep the elements that help deliver the message or make something important stand out, while making sure the poster doesn’t feel too crowded. Once the design feels right, I’ll fix the spacing and alignment, check that the main information is clear at a glance, look for any errors, and then export it in the required format. | Canva, Figma | I wouldn’t take it personally if major changes were needed, even after spending hours on the poster. I would first understand what needs to be changed and why, and then work on the important changes first. If I had to change something I personally liked, I’d still be willing to do it if it makes the design better for what MIC needs. I’d also ask questions if I’m not clear about the feedback rather than making random changes. My main focus would be getting the final poster right and making sure it works for the team, not just defending the version I originally made. | I haven't really used AI tools for my design work far. I have tried using AI to create webpages. I have noticed that the designs can start looking quite similar especially with the layouts and colour choices. Because of that I prefer coming up with and building my designs myself. I am still open to using AI when its useful though for example if I'm working on a MIC hackathon poster and don't understand the theme properly I could use it to understand the idea or explore some directions. I just wouldn't want it to decide the design, for me. | ||||
| 9 | 9 | 1st Preference | Dhruv Agrawal | 25BYB1100 | 2nd Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-12 | I want to join design department because I’m interested in design and want to improve my skills. I can bring my creativity and ideas to the team, while learning more about design, branding and working on real projects with others. | I’m interested in design and want to get better at it. I want to learn by working with the team and contribute my own ideas to the club. | I’m creative, open to feedback and willing to learn. I can bring new ideas and put in the effort to get the work done properly. | I want to improve my design skills and learn more by working with the Design Department. I really like the designs MIC uses across its different websites, and I’d love to learn how those designs are created. I can contribute my ideas, creativity and help with the design work. | If you don't have formal experience: I don’t have much formal design experience yet, but I have tried making designs and posters on my own. I’m looking to improve through practical work. | I would first understand what the design is supposed to communicate and who it is for. Then I’d spend a few minutes looking at references and similar designs to get some ideas. After that, I’d note down a few concepts and make quick rough sketches or layouts. I’d choose the one that fits the brief best and start building on it. | 5–7 hours | I would first understand the hackathon, its theme, audience and the key information that needs to stand out. Then I’d look at a few references and decide on the overall style, colours, typography and layout. I’d create a rough layout first and then build the poster around the most important information. After getting the basic design right, I’d refine the spacing, visuals and details, take feedback if possible, make the final changes and export it in the required format. | Canva, Figma | I would first understand what changes are needed and why instead of taking it personally. The main goal is to make the design better so I would make the changes quickly and ask for feedback if anything is unclear. I would also keep the original file organised so that making last minute changes is easier. | I use AI mainly for getting ideas, references and exploring different concepts. I don’t rely on it completely for the final design and prefer to make the final decisions myself. | ||||

| 13 | 13 | 1st Preference | Harigugan M N | 25BCE5332 | 2nd Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-11 | I want to join MIC because it is the only club where i feel that I can actually explore and build things instead of just existing in the club for the sake of it. I followed all the events the previous year and attended most of it. It truly felt like "This is where i like to be". I want to contribute to this club and learn a lot in the journey., as well as HAVE SOME FUN too. Genuinely MIC has been my personal favourite. | Because i enjoy doing it. Its kinda like a hobby. I feel intrigued trying to make a design look good and convey information that its supposed to. Im sure i can learn a lot more from the design department and improve myself as well as contribute to the club. | I think I can be a valuable addition because I am constantly learning and actually put in the work. I already have experience with Canva and Figma, and I’m someone who keeps experimenting different ideas until I get something that makes me feel "perfect" . i can complete a design under an time constraint if necessary too. I’m also open to feedback and don’t mind reworking something if it can be better. | i hope to improve my design skills by working along side other members and learn from them. how the team manages to deliver such good work. how they deliver their ideas and thoughts in the design. For my part , i can take up the design work whenever necessary , bring my own ideas into life, collaborate with the others to create crazy visuals. im comfortable with canva and figma, so I can help with posters, social media content, event creatives and similar work. i want to upgrade to adobe design tools and other professional tools and im working on it. ill surely contribute as lot as i get better. | yes i do , ill share the gdrive link - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1XcAnfSt7qNdssRmiR8vDQCXV5bsIB0Ra?usp=drive_link | first, will clarify what is the purpose of the design, what all information has to be conveyed and what theme is it of . then will quickly look up few inspirations , will start with creating a rough design by this time i will have and idea so will start experimenting with multiple ideas because thinking for too long and trying to perfect an idea without implementing it, is a waste of time. | More than 7 hours | First understand the brief and figure out the theme for the hackathon. based on the theme lookup for some references. choose a few that i feel looks good and can be used to frame our poster. Get all the important stuffs like name date venue tag line/moto and put a rough frame. next important stuff is the background. will define my thoughts on the flow of the poster , like where should the reader first set his eyes on and from there what all he should see. once the flow, bg and other basic stuff is ready , add all the logos , adjust placements and start on the fonts, spacing and other important stuff. will work more on required elements if required. then would ask for opinions from the department and work on their suggestions. once everything is finalilsed, double check everything, export. | Canva, Figma | if the head feels like something should be changed, i will not take it personally rather ill try to convey my thoughts and my efforts but will sure respect his/her thoughts and work on it. i encourage feedback and will try to look from their point of view to learn what from my design made them feel it. | yes, i personally feel using AI is an advantage rather than thinking it of an disgrace. it all depends on how you use it. i use ai to frame my thoughts , get ideas and recently as image models are getting really good, trying to use em to create my customized assets for the design. | ||||

| 16 | 16 | 1st Preference | Ilakkiya Parthasarathy | 26BCE5345 | 1st Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-09 | I want to join MIC because I feel that it's the perfect place to mix my love for visuals and design with technology. I believe tech needs artist as much as it needs programmers. I have plenty of passion and curiosity and I would love to have a chance to build awesome projects with a team full of people just as enthusiastic and talented. | I want to join the design crew because tech needs artists. I love obsessing over visuals, colors and the design to make sure the projects not only work but look stunning. | I'm a massive brainstormer and bring a bunch of creativity. I'm always down to listen to critique and collaborate with everyone so we can combine our ideas to create something amazing. I might not be an expert but I do have an eye for what looks good and attractive. | I want to jump right in and collaborate with a crew and start designing actual projects. I'm looking to level up my skills in designing with new tools. I bring a lot of energy and creativity to the team. I'm ready to put in the hours to help out wherever I'm needed. | No | First I would stop myself from panicking and start focusing on writing down all the ideas that I can come up with. I'd then go search for some inspiration or references for a nice color palate to set the overall vibe. Then I'd finally start a draft of my design and do a rough sketch of what I want the layout to look like by combining all the references got. I think this would give me a concrete plan on how I would spend the rest of my time designing. | 5–7 hours | I would start by gathering all the information I needed like the date, timings, location, theme and prize. Then I'd lock in the visuals like the fonts and colors depending on the theme. I would go for more neon colors with a dark background to make it pop. Next I would start making a rough sketch of the poster and the layout of where everything needs to be. I'd make sure the title is massive so it'll be eye catching with the prize on the bottom to attract more people. After I got the overall look for it is jump into an app and start designing, bringing it to life. | Canva | I wouldn't take it personally at all and handle it with a positive outlook. I would immediately gather all the corrections that needs to be made so I understand the exact vibe of the poster. Then I would quickly whip up a new design based on the feedbacks and see if it's more suitable. I feel like critique and feedback are very important in every job. I see feedback as a way to make the final design even better. If there's somthing that can be made better I'm all in to make it happen. | No I don't. | 18 | 18 | 1st Preference | Kanishka Lakshmi D L | 26BCE1167 | 1st Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-04 | As a CSE student, I want to join MIC to gain exposure in the field of tech clubs, while also getting to satisfy my unwavering interest for anything artistic and creative, hence I'm opting for a non tech role in a tech club :)) | I've always enjoyed doing anything creative and I believe the design department is the perfect place to combine creativity with tech. I'm eager to contribute by creating appealing content while learning from experienced team members and improving my design skills. More than anything, I want to gain exposure and collaborate with people from different domains, and be part of a team that illustrates ideas. | I believe I would be a valuable addition to the team because I'm eager to learn, open to feedback, and committed to giving my best in every task I take on. I enjoy thinking creatively which helps me create work that is both visually appealing and purposeful. Even if I don't have experience in every aspect of design yet, I'm a quick learner who is excited to grow, contribute, and support the team! | By working with the design department, I hope to strengthen my design skills and gain practical experience by working on real projects. In return, I hope to contribute by bringing fresh ideas, a strong willingness to learn, and a positive, dependable attitude. I'm ready to put in the effort required, take initiative when needed, and create designs that effectively communicate ideas. | I don't have formal design experience or a professional portfolio yet. However, I've used Canva to create presentations, academic projects, and Instagram posts, which has helped me develop a basic understanding of visual design, layouts, and aesthetics. | In the first 15 minutes, I'd first try to understand who the design is for, the message it needs to convey, and any requirements or constraints. Then, I'd spend a few minutes looking at references on Pinterest to gather inspiration and choose the strongest one to build on. Once I have a direction, I'd start creating a basic layout and refine it as I go rather than waiting for the perfect idea to appear. This approach helps me overcome creative blocks while making steady progress toward the deadline. | 2–4 hours | I would begin by understanding the concept thoroughly by identifying the target audience, the event's theme, the required information and the desired tone. Next, I'd gather inspiration and create a rough concept, deciding on a suitable colour palette and visual style that reflects the energy and innovation of a 24-hour hackathon. Once I have a clear direction, I'd create a basic layout by ensuring that essential details such as the event name, date, venue, and registration information stand out. After that, I'd refine the design by adjusting spacing, alignment, colours and visual appeal. Finally, I'd proofread all the content and gather feedback. | Canva | I would approach the situation with a positive mindset and view the feedback as an opportunity to improve the design rather than as criticism. I would first understand the reasoning behind the requested changes and clarify any points that are unclear to ensure I meet the expectations accurately. Throughout the process, I would communicate openly with the team, ask for clarification when needed, and remain flexible. Since design is a collaborative process, I understand that revisions are a normal part of creating the best possible outcome. | Yes, I use AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude primarily during the drafting stages. They help me brainstorm ideas, refine content, explore different design ideas and overcome creative blocks. However, I believe AI should support the creative process rather than replace it. | ||||

For a club, posters and visuals are often the first things people notice and i want to contribute my creativity to the club. | I believe what makes me a valuable addition to team is the unique perspective i bring. While there may be members who are more experienced or technically skill, i see an opportunity to learn rather than limitation My creativity comes from observing around me, exploring different styles and drawing inspiration from Pinterest and shuffles, which helps me think differently | I believe working in a team will help me understand how to turn ideas into designs that are both visually appealing and effective. At the same time, I would like to contribute by bringing fresh ideas, paying attention to detail, and giving my best to every design I work on. I want to create posters and visual content that not only look good but also communicate the clubs message clearly and attract peoples attention. My goal is to learn, contribute consistently, and help build a strong visual identity for the club. | While I haven't had the opportunity to work on large-scale design projects, I have consistently contributed to the design aspect of my school and academic projects whenever the opportunity given. Outside of academics, I also explored design on my own by creating concepts inspired by platforms like Pinterest and using apps such as Shuffles to experiment with different styles and layouts. Although my experience is limited, I have a strong interest in design, I'm eager to learn, and I'm excited to apply and further develop my skills. | When I feel stuck, I break the task into smaller steps. I would spend the first 15 minutes understanding the brief, listing the must haves, collecting visual inspiration, and deciding what should catch the viewer's attention first. Once the direction is clear, I can focus on creating a design that is both eye-catching and communicates the message effectively. | 5–7 hours | For a 24-hour hackathon, I would first identify the target audience and understand the event requirements. I'd create a clear visuals by making the hackathon name the most prominent, followed by a catchy tagline and key details like the theme, date, time, venue, prizes, and registration. I'd choose colors and graphics based on the hackathon's theme while maintaining MIC branding for consistency. Before finalizing, I would review the poster from a viewer's perspective to ensure the message is clear, visually appealing, and easy to understand within a few seconds. | Canva, Other | I would first understand the department head's feedback and the reason behind the requested changes. If I feel there's value in my original design, I'd respectfully explain the thought process and objective behind it. However, I would also stay open to feedback and prioritize the overall goals of the event and the team. If the revisions better align with the club's vision, I would make the necessary changes and treats the feedback as an opportunity to improve my work . | Yes, but only to a limited extent. I believe the core idea and creativity of a design should come from the designer. I usually develop the concept, layout, and execution on my own. If I need feedback or feel a design could be refined further, I'd first prefer discussing it with seniors or teammates. If that's not possible, I may use AI tools like chatgpt or canva aI for suggestions or minor refinements not to generate the entire design or replace my ideas. I see AI as a tool to enhance creativity, not as a substitute for it.

I would like to contribute to the team with my art by animating, making live2d designs, pixel art and Art for posters, games and more. | I have worked as a professional digital artist. Some of the works i can share:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1T-d75fMhXzKkqjupdUkkKDBdcKpiZhSE?usp=sharing I have experience in animating, Live2D, Pixel Art, Anime style art and Art for Games as well. | I would first write down important words. I would then find words to relate these ideas and then fuse some of them together and find either a color pallet, layout and go from there. I like to think that something needs to exist for it to be perfected later on. | 5–7 hours | 1. Write down the crucial details like the name, timeline, prizes, events, venue. 2. Gather inspiration from similar events and choose font and general theming like color scheme and more. 3. Find a catchy hook for the main title and add the information in the central area and add the qr code to register at the bottom. 4.I would then make the assets required and make a few drafts. 5.After sitting with the drafts and coming back with a clear mind and with opinions, I would choose two drafts to proceed with. 6. From here I would refine those drafts and change fonts and assets and more to finish the final export. | Canva, Other | I would write the changes down and try to understand where they came from and how I can implement the changes. As I have done commissions before I know how to make sure every part of the design and art can be changed in a minutes notice. I would gladly change elements to better fit the vibe and direction the head had in mind. | As a digital artist, I choose not to use generative AI as it is trained on artwork taken without permission and removes the joy of creative struggle and takes away the creativity people live for. Generative AI doesn't make AI art, as art in itself is anything creative and AI images don't really count.

I want to be a part of MIC wherein, we truly get to pitch in all of the craziest and smartest ideas and make it work in real life. I would love to help design and develop and be a part of something greater. And I'm sure I can truly help in designs as I've had prior experience handling and leading multiple design teams in my extracurriculars. | I believe design and aesthetics are very essential in bringing about harmony and ease to a particular problem. The design department at MIC sounds like the perfect opportunity to contribute and help create to. The visuals and aesthetics of MIC created by the design department are truly unmatched and I would love to be a part of it. | I have been very keen in Arts and design ever since I've been a child, taking great inspiration from my mother, who is an Artist. Not only that, MIC sounds like the perfect place for a person like me to explore their creative ideas and foster innovation. I'd love to lead or assist in poster making and logo design, video editing and product designs at MIC. | Yes, I do have prior Design experience from my school wherein I used to make posters, edit videos, and design physical posters for multiple Events and programs. (i am not able to attach my previous works on the quest as it isn't accepting the format) | I would first jot down all important points and parts of the design I'd like to create. As in, where the header would be, what the style of the design would be, color scheme, etc. Then i would free-hand sketch a rough copy of the design and re-work it until I'm satisfied. After that I'd start working on the design immediately. | 2–4 hours | I'd use a tool such as Canva, Figma or Adobe Illustrator to design the poster. I would already have a visual idea of how the poster is gonna look like with the help of a rough copy of the sketch. Then i would map out where all the elements of the design would go, finish up the process, and show the final draft to the necessary co-ordinators and department head, and add finishing touches. I would get it rechecked again before final export. | Canva | I'm open to any new or quick change in design as design is very subjective. Opinions on the same design can be very varied, hence I'd be ready to change it and get started on it as soon as possible. I'll make sure that the department head is evaluating the design the entire time so as to add any other finishing touches. I can very well navigate quick revisions and feedbacks in design as I've had prior experience to this. Until the design is perfect I'm willing to work on it. | I haven't used AI tools in my design work so far as i haven't tried them out yet, but I'm willing and keen to learn to use them in my future projects coming forth, wherever necessary.

I can do everything in my power to be a valuable member of the club. | Yes, if you count making posters and invitation cards for events at school. But I don't really have a formal experience. | Getting stuck can actually be 50% solved by getting in the mood. I'd get a nice drink and pop up a playlist, and get into the mood. Then I'd search up some ideas to initiate my thought process. | 2–4 hours | I'd make an outline first and map out all the most important information that there has to be on the poster. Then actually start doing the poster, adding artsy elements and fun colour, making it attractive and eye catching. | Canva | First of all, I'd make sure this never happens. But if it does, and it's my fault, I'd try to make it right and incorporate the changes as much as is possible. But if it is negligence from the head, I'd complain about it but still do my job. | I have actually used AI in my past works, for minor purposes. But currently, I am trying to not use AI at all due to the ethical dilemma around usage of AI, especially generative AI. So if you ask me whether I will use AI in my work, I'd say no since it doesn't sit right with me, being an artist myself. AI art is just art stolen from real artists, stripped off its original soul.

If I don't find anything, I start with a basic complimentary color palette. This gets my creativity flowing | 2–4 hours | I type out the basic details on a google doc(the name, date, prize pool etc). I pull creative ideas from Pinterest and Instagram. I pick a tech-brutalist dark style with a black background and bright neon details like purple and lime green to grab attention and give that tech vibe. | Canva | I remember to keep my ego separate from my art and that the poster serves the club's mission, not my personal portfolio. I would respond calmly and professionally, keeping in my that my personal taste shouldn't hinder my output quality | AI-generated designs have a bland visual aesthetic that is instantly recognizable and cheapens the product in my opinion. I think using AI for the time-consuming brainstorming part would help me spend more time actually designing and making the final poster feel original. | 5–7 hours | I’d first understand the hackathon brief and gather all the important information. I’d use Gemini to brainstorm visual directions, themes, colour combinations, and ideas for representing a 24-hour hackathon, while also looking at existing posters for inspiration. Once I have a direction, I’d sketch a few rough layouts and decide the visual hierarchy. I’d then use Canva to build the poster, experimenting with typography, gradients, shapes, and icons. I’d make the hackathon name or “24 HOURS” the main focus while keeping the important details clear and easy to find. | Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Other | I’d try not to take the changes personally. I’d first understand the department head’s feedback and ask questions if anything is unclear. I’d then identify what needs to change and what can be retained from the original design. If major changes are needed, I’d be open to trying a different direction. In a collaborative environment, I believe the final result matters more than getting credit for my original idea. | Yes. I mainly use AI during the ideation stage. I use ChatGPT or Gemini to brainstorm concepts, colour palettes, layouts, and visual directions, and Canva AI for quick inspiration. I then create and refine the actual design myself in Canva. I see AI as a brainstorming tool rather than something that creates the final work for me.

I’d look at references on Pinterest or Behance to spark ideas and note down color palettes or fonts that match the mood. My goal would be to generate small sparks of inspiration instead of waiting for one perfect idea — once something feels right, I’d build on it and move forward. | 5–7 hours | I’d start by understanding the brief — what the hackathon is about and who it’s for. Then I’d sketch a few layout ideas and decide on the main focus, like the event name or tagline. I’d choose bold colors and fonts that match the energy of a hackathon. | 36 | 36 | 2nd Preference | Ambhrini Ghosh | 26BDS1039 | 1st Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-04 | MIC is a club I have been hearing about since the beginning of club discussions. And after I hearing more of it I am intrigued as well. I think it is a very inclusive club as there are 9 departments we can choose from for people with different interests and specialisations. I have also heard a lot of success stories of the members of MIC. I too would like to be a part of this club and contribute to its growth. | Out of all the departments in the MIC club, the design department intrigued me the most as I have always been interested in design and art. Over the years, I have tried various hobbies and dropped them but drawing and design has stuck with me since the beginning. | I think everyone has a different creative mind and I hope to add a different element of creativity to the design department. I am also a keen learner and will always be open to criticism. | I hope to gain experience in working with others to complete a project and to expand my knowledge in design. I also wish to acquire skills that could help me later on in life. | I do not have any previous experience in design but I do have experience in various forms of art like sketching, painting and so on. | I would start by picking a colour for the background and paint the canvas with it. I think the background colour would make a good start to eliminate a part of my art block. Scrolling through Pinterest also brings a rush of ideas in. | 5–7 hours | I would start by choosing a colour combination suitable for the event, black and a various shades of purple. I would mention the date, timings and venue in a place where it would be easily visible. The name of the event would be the main part of the poster. | Canva, Other | I would ask as to why the design didn't work. Using this feedback I would make the revisions. I think I handle feedback well and would work well in a collaborative environment as I take other people's thoughts and opinions into consideration at all times. | No, I do not usually turn to AI tools when I have design work as I feel as though it doesn't always give me the results I desire which frustrates me at times. I do use it in the ideation process at times. But I am open to learning how to use AI tools better and implement them into my work as I am aware it speeds up the work and may even create more complex designs.
| 37 | 37 | 2nd Preference | Aneesha Ghosh | 26BCE1422 | 1st Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-11 | I want to join the Microsoft Innovation Club because I want to move beyond simply learning technology and start actually building with it. I'm curious about development and want to explore how ideas can be turned into practical solutions. I'm looking forward to learning from seniors and peers, working on projects, participating in challenges, and contributing my own ideas along the way. More than just adding a club to my resume, I see this as an opportunity to challenge myself, grow as a developer, and be part of a community that genuinely enjoys creating and learning. | I have always enjoyed the creative side of presenting ideas and making information visually engaging. I want to join the Design Department because it would give me a chance to turn that interest into something practical, while learning how professional designs are created for events and projects. I also want to improve my skills by working with people who have different ideas and perspectives. | I am someone who is willing to learn, take feedback and put in the effort to improve. I pay attention to small details and like experimenting with different ideas instead of settling for the first concept. At the same time, I would like to contribute by bringing fresh ideas, helping with posters and other visual content, and being open to feedback and revisions. I would also like to learn from the team and gradually take on more responsibility as I improve. | I have experience creating posters, presentations and other visual content using Canva for academic and personal projects. I have worked with layouts, typography, colour combinations and visual hierarchy, and I usually focus on keeping designs clean while still making them visually engaging. I am looking forward to building on this experience through real projects and collaboration within the club. | I would first understand the purpose, target audience and key information that the design needs to communicate. Then I would quickly collect a few visual references and decide on the basic direction, including the layout, colour palette, typography and hierarchy. I would make a rough wireframe before starting the actual design so that I have a clear structure instead of spending too much time perfecting small details early on. | 5–7 hours | I would first go through the brief carefully and identify the most important information, such as the event name, date, venue, registration details and call to action. I would then decide on a visual concept that matches the energy of a 24-hour hackathon and create a rough layout with a clear information hierarchy. After that, I would work on typography, colours, graphics and spacing while making sure the poster remains readable. I would review it at different sizes, take feedback from the team, make the necessary revisions and finally export it in the required format and dimensions after checking all the details. | Canva, Adobe Illustrator | I would first understand the reason behind the changes rather than taking them personally. I would clarify the exact requirements, identify which parts of the design need to be changed and prioritise the most important revisions. Since the final goal is to create something that works for the event and represents the club well, I would be open to feedback even if it means reworking something I have already spent time on. I would also communicate clearly about what can be completed within the deadline and make sure the revised version is properly reviewed before publishing | Yes. I use Al mainly as a support tool during ideation and brainstorming, such as exploring different concepts, generating initial ideas or finding alternative directions when I am stuck. I would still make the final design decisions myself and refine the output according to the brief, visual consistency and the requirements of the project. I see Al as a way to speed up the early stages of the process rather than replace the creative thinking behind the design. | ||||
| 38 | 38 | 2nd Preference | Arav Saxena | 26BAI1314 | 1st Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-12 | I want to join the Microsoft Innovation Club because it provides an environment where I can strengthen my technical skills and gain practical exposure beyond the classroom. As a B.Tech CSE student specializing in AI/ML, I am particularly interested in exploring coding, artificial intelligence, and machine learning through hands-on projects and collaboration with other students who share similar interests. I see the AI/ML department as an opportunity to learn from experienced peers, work on real-world problems, and gradually build the skills required to develop meaningful technical projects. I would also like to contribute my own ideas, collaborate with the team, and make the most of the learning opportunities the club provides. | I am interested in design because I believe that a good product should look as good as it functions. Design plays an important role in making a product visually appealing, intuitive, and enjoyable to use. I would like to explore different aspects of design, improve my skills, and learn how thoughtful design can enhance the overall experience of a product. | I believe I would be a valuable addition to the team because I have a good eye for colour combinations, visual balance, and design overall. I enjoy experimenting with different design ideas and would like to further develop and refine these skills while contributing to the team’s projects. | I hope to refine my design skills through practical experience and learn the techniques and principles that can make a design more appealing and effective. I would also like to develop my own design style and understand what works best for different types of content. I would like to contribute by creating designs for the club and sharing constructive opinions and ideas on other members' work. I hope to help improve the club's overall visual identity and the quality of its content. | I have some design experience through contributing to my parents’ startup and helping with the design of their app. I regularly shared ideas and feedback on aspects such as colour schemes, element placement, imagery, and the overall visual appeal of the interface. This gave me practical exposure to design decisions and helped me develop a stronger interest in UI and visual design. | I would start by putting down a very basic idea rather than spending too much time trying to come up with the perfect concept. Once I have something on the canvas, I would experiment with different layouts, colours, fonts, and visual elements and gradually build on the initial idea. I find that having a starting point makes it easier for ideas to develop naturally, so I would use those first 15 minutes to explore different possibilities and establish a direction for the final design. | 5–7 hours | I’d start by understanding the brief and identifying the key information that needs to be communicated, such as the hackathon name, date, venue, registration details, and any important highlights. I would then decide the visual hierarchy—what should immediately catch the viewer’s attention and what can be secondary. From there, I’d create an initial layout and experiment with colours, typography, imagery, and spacing to develop a cohesive design. Once I have a direction I’m happy with, I’d refine the details, check that the information is clear and readable, make any final adjustments, and export the poster in the appropriate format and resolution. | Canva, Figma | I would first explain the vision and purpose behind my original design so that the department head understands the direction I was aiming for. I would then go through their requested changes, assess what can realistically be adjusted within the available time, and communicate any concerns if certain changes would significantly affect the design or deadline. I would be open to making revisions, as feedback can help me look at my work from a different perspective and improve the final result. | Yes, I use AI tools such as ChatGPT’s image generation and Gemini’s Nano Banana Pro to assist with my design work. I mainly use them during ideation and early drafts—for example, to create specific visual elements or generate a rough baseline that I can build and refine further. I see AI as a tool to support the creative process rather than replace the design decisions themselves. | ||||

If that doesn't work, then try and remember anything that I've seen in the past that looked cool | 2–4 hours | I would make several basic designs , select whichever one I like the most and implement the parts of the other designs which I feel would improve the aesthetics of the main design . I would continue to refine until I felt it was finished | Canva | I would try to reach a comprise with them where I could still use most of what I've already made but also implement some of the changes that they demand | No , I believe that it takes away from my vision and that work done by ai is not upto my standard of quality

I am excited to work with people who want to build real projects, participate in hackathons, and experiment with machine learning models. MIC feels like the best community on campus to push my technical skills, learn from senior developers, and contribute back by helping out with projects and events. | I want to join the Design Department because I believe good design is what makes great ideas easy to understand and engaging. I'm interested in learning how to create impactful visuals that communicate effectively, whether it's for events, social media, or technical initiatives. I enjoy being creative, learning new tools, and working with a team, and I see this as a great opportunity to improve my design skills while contributing to the department's work. | I bring a strong willingness to learn, consistency, and a collaborative mindset. I take ownership of my work, meet deadlines, and enjoy turning ideas into meaningful outcomes. I'm open to feedback, adapt quickly, and always look for ways to improve. Whether it's brainstorming, designing, or supporting the team during events, I'll contribute with commitment and a positive attitude. | I hope to refine my creativity by collaborating with talented designers, learning new techniques, and working on larger, more impactful projects. I want to contribute by creating high-quality posters, social media creatives, event branding, and promotional videos that help the department stand out. Beyond designing, I want to share my experience, support the team during events, and ensure our visuals are both creative and effective. | Yes. I have over 6 years of experience in graphic design and video editing. During this time, I've created social media posts, event posters, promotional materials, thumbnails, logos, and edited short-form and long-form videos for various projects and clients. I'm comfortable with tools like Canva for Image designing, and I enjoy creating designs that are both visually appealing and communicate the intended message effectively. I use DaVinci Resolve to create stunning visuals. | The first thing I'd do is understand the objective, what purpose the design serves, what message it needs to convey, and where it will be used. Then I'd spend a few minutes looking for inspiration on platforms like Pinterest, or Instagram to identify a direction without copying. Next, I'd gather the required assets, choose a suitable template, and quickly sketch a rough layout. I don't wait for the "perfect idea", I start designing early, iterate, and refine as I go. | 5–7 hours | I start by understanding the brief, target audience, theme, and the key information that needs to stand out. Then I collect references and decide on a visual direction that matches the energy of a hackathon. I create a clean layout with a clear visual hierarchy, choosing colors, fonts, and graphics that grab attention while keeping the information easy to read. Once the first draft is ready, I review spacing, alignment, contrast, and overall balance, make revisions based on feedback, and ensure the design works across different formats. Finally, I export optimized versions to make sure the quality and dimensions are correct. | Canva, Other | I wouldn't take the feedback personally. Design is about communicating the right message, not just my own preferences. I'd first understand the reason behind the requested changes, prioritize what needs to be updated, and make the revisions as efficiently as possible. Having worked in design for several years, I'm used to multiple revision cycles and understand that collaboration often leads to a stronger final result. My focus would always be on delivering the best design for the team, even if it means reworking something I've already spent hours on. | No. I don't rely on AI tools for my design work. Since I've been working as a graphic designer and video editor for a long time, I prefer developing concepts, layouts, and visuals on my own. I enjoy the creative process of researching, sketching ideas, and refining designs manually because it helps me maintain originality and improve my skills. While I'm open to exploring AI where it genuinely adds value, I believe strong design should come from the designer's creativity and understanding of the brief.
| 41 | 41 | 2nd Preference | Ayushi Sanjeev Prasad Jaiswal | 26BEL1093 | 1st Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-11 | I want to join the Microsoft coding team because I’m still at the beginning of my coding journey and I want to learn by actually working on projects and collaborating with people who are more experienced than me (literally anyone at this point). I'd like to improve my problem-solving and development skills while also getting exposure to different areas of technology.(Also a place to be a cool nerd. ) Since I’m a first-year student, I think being part of a coding community would give me a good environment to learn, contribute, and grow. | I have had an interest in artistic events from as long as I can remember. It tickles the part of my brain that is forced to shut down when academics become priority or basically since 10th grade became important. I want to join the Design Department because I want to keep that creative side of me active, explore new forms of design, and create things that are more than just academic work. | I think I would bring curiosity, patience and a willingness to experiment to the team. I sketch, paint and work with clay, so although digital design is something I still have a lot to learn about, I already have a strong interest in creating and working with different forms of art. I tend to pay a lot of attention to small details, and I enjoy spending time refining something until it feels right. I am genuinely interested in learning, experimenting and adapting my artistic skills to digital design rather than being afraid of getting things wrong. | I hope to become more confident in turning an idea in my head into an actual design and learn how to approach creativity in ways I haven't explored before. I would also like to experience working on creative projects as a team, where different people bring different ideas to the same concept. In return, I would like to contribute my own ideas, artistic skills and willingness to experiment, while helping create designs that people genuinely enjoy looking at and interacting with. | I don't have formal experience in design, but I have been sketching and painting for several years and have also experimented with clay art. I had a long break from creating art while focusing on academics, but recently started picking it up again. My previous work includes realistic portraits, landscapes, still-life compositions and clay work. I am currently rebuilding my portfolio and exploring different styles and mediums. | I’d first stop myself from trying to come up with the “perfect” idea and instead break the problem down. I’d figure out what the design is supposed to communicate, who it is for and what kind of mood I want it to have. Then I’d quickly sketch out a few ideas, even if they’re rough, and choose the one with the most potential. I’d make a basic layout first and then build on it, leaving enough time to refine the details. If I’m still stuck, I’d look at references to get my brain moving and explore different directions rather than sitting there waiting for inspiration to magically appear. | 2–4 hours | I’d first go through the brief and figure out what information absolutely needs to stand out, like the hackathon name, date, theme and registration details. Then I’d decide on the overall vibe I want the poster to have and sketch out a few rough ideas before settling on one. I’d build the main layout first and then work on the fonts, colours, graphics and other details around it. I’d keep checking that it looks good but is also easy to read and doesn’t feel too crowded. Before exporting, I’d go over the whole thing once more for spacing, alignment and any small details I might have missed, get a second opinion if possible, make the final changes and then export it in the required format. | Canva | I’d try not to take the changes personally, even if I had spent a lot of time on the original design. I’d first understand what the department head wants changed and why, and then figure out which parts of my design can be adjusted rather than getting attached to the first version. I’d ask questions if I’m unsure about any feedback and make the revisions while keeping the overall design clear and consistent. I think feedback is also a good way to learn what I could have done better, so I’d rather use it to improve the design than see it as criticism. | I have used AI tools occasionally, mainly for brainstorming and getting unstuck when I’m not sure which direction to take. I might use them to explore ideas, references or different approaches, but I wouldn’t want AI to completely create the final design for me. I’d rather use it as a tool to help with the process and then make the actual creative decisions and edits myself. | ||||

As I have learnt and made 2 projects during the past two years, I think i would be an asset to MIC. I look forward to joining the club and contribute to the maximum. | I’ve always felt that a good design can say something before you even read a single word. I want to join MIC because I want to be around people who think differently and turn crazy ideas into something real. I want to work on designs that aren’t just “good-looking,” but actually make people stop scrolling, understand the idea, and remember it. More than just designing, I can bring ideas, consistency, and a different perspective to the team. I’d want to contribute what I already know while also learning from the people around me and helping the team create work we’re genuinely proud of. | I want to gain more exposure to real design work and understand how different people approach creativity. I’d like to work on projects that challenge my current style, experiment with new ideas, and learn how design works in a team setting. At the same time, I want to contribute the experience and perspective I already have. I can bring my own creative style, help turn ideas into strong visuals, and take up projects where I can make a real difference. Ideally, I want to grow with the department while also being someone the team can rely on when it comes to design. | https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cdZqOCDx735CaLe993i92700BzLZ1pPL/view?usp=drivesdk https://www.instagram.com/p/DKpuIL_hZUx/?igsh=MWtlaWpiMGVkMzFmbg== https://www.instagram.com/p/DKtRMwLOA-8/?igsh=MWNmdjM2dW9sbThtaw== https://www.instagram.com/p/DKwG7d8uW1q/?img_index=4&igsh=bTMycHhneHBwNmEy https://www.instagram.com/p/DNha2Bho2HM/?igsh=MWluY2doN3N1MDF2cA== | 0–3 min: I’d stop staring at the blank canvas and write down three things: purpose, audience, and one message the design needs to communicate. 3–6 min: I’d collect a few references and look specifically for one element that catches me — an unusual layout, typography, composition, or visual metaphor. 6–10 min: I’d start playing directly on the canvas. I’d throw in the main text, a rough visual, and a few layout ideas without worrying about alignment or perfection. I want to see the idea rather than just think about it. 10–15 min: I’d take the roughest idea that has potential and give it a proper direction — decide the main focal point, build the composition around it, and establish the overall visual language. The goal is to leave those 15 minutes with something I can actually build on. | 5–7 hours | I’d start by going through the brief and listing the exact content the poster needs. Then I’d set up the canvas and build the main layout, placing the headline, key event details, CTA, and main visual first. After that, I’d refine the typography, colours, spacing, and smaller elements until everything feels balanced and readable. Before exporting, I’d check the poster at full size and as a thumbnail, proofread all the details, and make sure logos and dimensions are correct. Finally, I’d export the required formats for social media or print and save the editable source file separately. | Canva | Feedback is a part of the design process and that wouldn't stop me. Instead of getting attached to my design because I worked on it for hours, I would calmly explain to the department head that her feedback is valuable and I will take it into consideration but due to time crunch, I will definitely make the necessary changes and explain why my design also fits what is described. I'm very open to suggestions and the final goal is to make everyone happy and fulfilled of the process | Yes, I do use AI tools, but more as a creative assistant than as the designer. I mainly use them during ideation—to explore concepts, generate different directions, or get unstuck when I’m starting something new. I might also use Canva AI for small elements or to speed up repetitive parts of the process. But I prefer to keep the actual design decisions, composition, typography, and overall visual identity in my hands. AI can help me explore possibilities faster, but the final design should still feel like my work and my style, not something generated for me.
| 44 | 44 | 2nd Preference | Harshika S | 25BYB1112 | 2nd Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-11 | I want to join MIC because, I like the way how this club works and how technical projects are developed using project cycles and I want to be a part of it to develop my skills and contribute in tech projects. I had worked on a few small projects on my own, but I feel I can learn much more by working with a team, taking part in events, and getting feedback from seniors and develop my projects. | I want to join the Design Department because I enjoy working on posters, presentations, and social media content. I usually spend time trying layouts that makes the design looks clean and easy to understand. I’m interested in learning more about design by working on real projects and getting feedback from others in the team. I may not know every design tool perfectly, but I pay attention to details, enjoy experimenting with ideas, and I’m willing to put in the effort needed to contribute to the department | I think I would be a valuable addition to the team because. I’m comfortable working with others, listening to feedback, and improving based on it. I also enjoy learning new things, so even if I’m not familiar with something at first, I’m willing to spend time understanding it and getting better. Along with that, I pay attention to details and like contributing ideas . | I hope to gain more practical experience by working on real designs instead of only learning tools on my own. I want to improve my understanding of layouts, colors, typography, and how to create designs that are clear. Working with the Design Department would also help me learn how creative work is planned and executed as a team. As for contributing, I’d like to help with posters, social media content, event branding, presentations, and other design-related tasks. I’m willing to take feedback, learn from others, and put in the effort needed to deliver designs that match the team’s expectations | I don’t have formal design experience or a professional portfolio yet, but I have worked on posters, presentations,, and other small creative tasks for academics and personal projects. Through these, I’ve practiced using different layouts, colors, and font to make the content look clean and easy to understand. I’m still learning and exploring design tools, and I’m looking for an opportunity to gain more hands-on experience by working on real projects with the team. At the moment, I don’t have a portfolio link to share, but I’m actively building my skills and collecting my work. | In the first 15 minutes, I wouldn’t try to create the final design immediately. I’d first spend 2–3 minutes understanding what the design is for, who will see it, and what the one message is that should stand out. Then I’d quickly look at a few references for inspiration, not to copy them, but to get ideas for layout, colors, and composition. After that, I’d make 2 or 3 rough sketch because seeing something on the screen is usually easier than thinking about a perfect design in my head. By the end of the first 15 minutes, my goal would be to choose one direction and start building it instead of waiting for a perfect idea to appear. | More than 7 hours | I would start by understanding the brief what the hackathon is about, who the audience is, what is the theme and which details are most important, such as the title, date, venue, prizes, and registration link. Then I’d decide the visual direction, usually something that feels energetic and tech-oriented for a 24-hour hackathon. I’d choose a color palette and 2–3 fonts that are easy to read and work well together. After that, I’d create a rough layout, placing the title first, then the key information, and finally the supporting elements like icons, illustrations, or background graphics. Once the structure looks balanced, I’d refine the spacing, alignment, contrast, and hierarchy so that the important information stands out immediately. | Canva, Figma | I would be disappointed initially but I will save the original version first and then ask which changes are absolutely necessary before publishing. Instead of redesigning everything, I will focus on the parts that affect the message the most. I don’t treat feedback as criticism of my effort . I treat it as information about what works better for the audience. In a team, I will make quick, clear revisions and get confirmation than spend time defending my first version. | Yes, I use AI tools, but mostly for ideation and getting unstuck. If I’m designing a poster, I may use Chatgpt for headline ideas or Canva AI to explore a few layout or color directions. I don’t usually rely on AI for the final design because I prefer adjusting the composition, typography, and details myself. For me, AI is more like a starting point that helps me move faster, eventhough the final output is something did manually. | ||||

I don't just want to learn technology—I want to build with it and create meaningful impact. | I want to join the Design Department because I enjoy turning ideas into visuals that people can understand, connect with, and remember. I've explored UI/UX design through Figma and Stitch, while also creating logos, banners, and other visual content using Canva and Adobe Illustrator. I'd spend the first few minutes clarifying the objective, target audience, required information, and where the design will be used. Then I'd quickly research references and identify 2–3 visual directions that fit the brief. I'd sketch a rough hierarchy on paper or Figma—headline, key information, visuals, and CTA—before choosing fonts, colors, and imagery. By the end of 15 minutes, I'd have a clear direction and a rough wireframe, allowing the remaining time to focus on execution rather than endlessly searching for an idea. | 2–4 hours | I would first understand the brief, target audience, platform, dimensions, deadline, and mandatory information such as the event name, date, venue, registration link, and sponsors. I'd then collect references and establish a visual direction matching the hackathon's technology-focused identity. Next, I'd create a rough hierarchy and layout in Figma, prioritizing readability and the main CTA. I'd develop the chosen direction, refine typography, spacing, colors, imagery, and branding, then review it at actual viewing size. After checking all information and getting feedback, I'd make the final revisions and export the required formats while ensuring the assets remain sharp and correctly sized. | Figma, Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Other | I'd respond professionally and focus on understanding the reason behind the changes rather than defending the work I've already done. I'd clarify the priorities, identify which elements need to change, and assess what can be retained to meet the deadline. If the feedback affects the core direction, I'd quickly create a revised version and confirm that I'm moving in the right direction before spending time polishing it. I see feedback as part of the design process, not as criticism of the designer. The goal is ultimately to deliver the best result for the team. | Yes. I use AI primarily as a creative and productivity tool rather than a replacement for my design decisions. I use tools such as ChatGPT for brainstorming concepts, exploring visual directions, generating copy ideas, and challenging my initial approach. I may also use AI-assisted features in design tools during ideation or early drafts. However, I make the final decisions on composition, typography, hierarchy, branding, usability, and visual consistency myself. I believe AI is most valuable when it helps a designer explore more possibilities while keeping human judgment at the center.

I feel this club would be a great place for me to learn, meet new people, and grow along the way. | I would like to explore my creativity and also put myself out, I am hoping to dive deep into designing and learn how ideas can be turned into creative work. As a fresher, I’m eager to learn new skills, experiment with different styles, and work with a team where I can improve through real projects :) | I’m a quick learner, open to feedback, and willing to put in the effort to improve. Even though I’m still new to design, I’m creative, responsible with deadlines, and comfortable learning things from scratch. I’d bring enthusiasm, consistency, and a willingness to contribute wherever needed. | I hope to gain intellect about design, understand how a creative team works, and become more confident with design tools . I’d like to contribute by helping create posters, event graphics, and other visuals while continuously improving my skills. | I’m a fresher and don’t have any formal design experience yet. But I've always had an interest in art and always took the extra time to make my school projects look visually appealing and creative :) I have explored basic design through tools like Canva, picsart and have an interest in learning more about design. | I will first take a rough piece of paper and scribble down everything that comes to my mind. And then i will try to come up with a more concrete plan on what I am going to do, and I might also take some inspiration and references from Pinterest, and keep juggling things around until I am satisfied with what I end up with. | 2–4 hours | I'll first make sure that I have all the needed details about the hackathon to put into my poster. Then I'll think about the different elements of my poster and come up with ways to bring everything together. Afterwards i'll do a rough sketch of what I've got planned so far. Then i'll make any changes if i want to and then I'll get started with the real deal! | Canva, Other | I would first try to understand why the changes were asked to be made, and try my best to make the corresponding changes. I am very open to constructive criticism, and I am always ready to make mistakes and learn from them! | Yes. I would only use AI for generating basic ideations, to use along with my *original* ones just to make my project better, but never completely different.

For me, design isn’t just about making something look good. It’s about figuring out how to actually get a message across, no matter if I’m cranking out a hackathon poster overnight or mapping out a months-long campaign. I’m excited to bring this flexibility and forward-thinking attitude to the team. | Just to learn about UI/UX design, AI aided design and innovative designs as I am always want to know about it but never get a chance to do so. However, I have rarely any knowledge in UI/UX design. | As I said in previous query, I have rarely experience or knowledge about it, but I always be one to learn about this domain to upskilling myself. | Here's my four steps what I will do according to the above scenario ... 1. Knowing what the client actually think and want execution on his/her product design 2. Making a rough work to install and add on what needed for minimal requirement satisfied by client. 3. For quick design, I rely to use AI, like 'Emergent AI, Manus AI, Run - able AI, Design Arena, Leonardo AI, Canva AI, Nano Banana, Google Flow AI, etc.' for increasing productivity minimal requirement design. 4. If little time avails for me, I would add more additional design to look more gorgeous. | 2–4 hours | 1.) Knowing all requirement to accomplished poster design. 2.) I have always been keen to learn new things related to tech and this club is perfect for it , also i have always been interested in ui/ux and i would love to grab this opportunity to learn and make most out of it. | Design is something that i have always been passionate about. I in general like to express my thoughts and ideas in the form of design. I feel The microsoft innovations club is the perfect opportunity for me to work more on design and contribute to the team. | I’m a creative and detail-oriented person who enjoys turning ideas into designs. I’m open to feedback, willing to learn new tools, and comfortable with exploring different styles. I will make sure that my ideas bring a valuable contribution to the team and i am also willing to take the responsibilities of the tasks that have been assigned to me. | I want to gain practical experience in UI/UX, graphic design, branding, and visual communication while learning how a real design team works. I’d like to contribute through creative ideas, posters, social media designs while continuously improving my design skills. | I have worked on creative projects in my school and college where i was the part of the design team and i also have quite a experience of using canva. I don’t have formal professional design experience yet, but I have always been interested in drawing, visual creativity, and experimenting with design and am currently looking to build a stronger portfolio and gain hands-on experience through the team. | I would first understand the objective and what theme i am working on exactly and then immediately i would start to sketch out random things that come to mind when i think of that idea. I would try to focus more on 1- 2 ideas because I believe that accuracy and clarity is more important in design than the quantity. | 5–7 hours | I’d begin by understanding the event, target audience, and required information. Then I’d create a moodboard using apps like canva or pinterest and explore a few concepts based on the hackathon’s theme. After selecting the strongest concept, I’d establish the typography, colour palette, and layout before designing the final poster. I'd review it once again to check the consistency and then finally submit it in the required dimensions | Canva, Other | I would first understand the reason behind the requested changes rather than taking the feedback personally. I’d discuss which changes are essential and prioritise them based on the deadline. I’d revise the design while preserving the original objective. After making the changes, I’d share the updated version for confirmation and ensure everyone is aligned before publishing. | Yes i do use AI tools in my design and would like to learn more about efficiently using them to create my designs. I have a considerable experience in using canva and pinterest. I see AI as a supporting tool rather than a replacement for my own creative decisions. I prefer to create and refine the final design myself while making sure the final work reflects my own ideas and the team’s requirements.
| 55 | 55 | 2nd Preference | P Yuvasree | 25BCE5352 | 2nd Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-05 | Since my very first semester, I’ve attended several events organized by MIC, and they’ve always stood out to me for how fun, energetic, and engaging they are. Every time I attended one, I found myself wanting to be on the other side too, not just participating, but actually being part of the team that makes these experiences happen. It genuinely fascinates me how MIC can be such a huge club while still having that kind of energy, and I’d love to experience it for myself, contribute what I can, learn along the way, and have some real fun being a part of it! | I’ve always enjoyed design alongside development, but working on visual concepts and brand-focused designs during my RSN One internship made me realize how much I genuinely enjoy experimenting with color, typography, layouts, and different visual directions. I’d now love to contribute to MIC’s visual identity by creating work that represents the club, while learning from the team and continuing to improve my design skills. | One thing I’d bring to the team is that I’m comfortable experimenting and iterating rather than getting too attached to my first idea. I can work from a brief, explore multiple directions, take feedback, and keep refining until the design feels right. Since I also work in frontend development, I can bring both a visual and technical perspective to digital work. | I’d like to learn how a large creative team maintains a consistent visual identity across events, posters, social media, and other assets, while improving my typography and composition and getting more comfortable with tools like Photoshop and Illustrator. I’d contribute fresh visual ideas, experience with brand-focused design, and a willingness to experiment, take feedback, and iterate. I’d especially love to work on event posters, social creatives, and branding that people can immediately associate with MIC. | Yes. During my frontend internship at RSN One, design has been a significant part of my work. I’ve explored different visual directions and brand themes for landing pages, worked on email template designs, and refined layouts through multiple iterations based on feedback. I also designed my personal portfolio website, which gave me the freedom to develop a visual style of my own. Personal Portfolio: https://yuvasree-portfolio.vercel.app/ Design Work: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1mF-R3MyYJpnNW3QUcT4HiI2FZyoCMp8B?usp=sharing | First 5 minutes: I’d clarify the audience, main message, and mood. Next 5: I’d scan a few references and existing brand visuals for direction. Final 5: I’d sketch 2–3 rough layouts, choose the strongest one, and start building. My goal after 15 minutes is a clear direction, not a perfect design. | 5–7 hours | I’d first understand the audience, theme, required information, brand guidelines, dimensions, and all organizer/sponsor logos with their required hierarchy. Then I’d gather references, choose a visual direction, and build a clear hierarchy with the hackathon name and “24 Hours” standing out, followed by the key details, CTA, and properly placed sponsor logos. After refining the typography, colors, graphics, spacing, and readability, I’d verify all details and logos, get feedback, make final corrections, and export in the required format. | Canva, Figma | I wouldn’t hold onto a design just because I spent hours on it. I’d first clarify the major changes and their priority, then work on the most important revisions first given the deadline and share a quick updated version for confirmation before finalizing. If I disagree with a suggestion, I’d explain my reasoning with backups justifying it, but ultimately design is collaborative and the final result matters more than defending my version. | Yes. I usually start with my own concept and creative direction, then use tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Canva AI to create a basic design or starting point. I treat that output as a base and refine the layout, colors, typography, placement, and other details until it matches what I have in mind. AI helps me speed up the initial execution, while I retain control over how the final design looks. | ||||

And i think this club would help me achieve that as well as find many like minded people. | iam a very creative person, i love art and painting and sketching naturally designing is in my field of interest. | In the middle of AI, human design feels so human and original and i would love to be the face of design in your club and bring a creative spark to a technical club. | I hope to gain practical experience in design and understand how creative ideas are developed for real projects and improve my skills by working with people who have different perspective and styles. i would like to contribute by exploring different ideas and i would be happy to contribute to designing posters, doing illustrations or any other visual work | i don't have formal experience in design but I have experience in digital art and making illustrations including sketching and painting, I'm interested in applying these skills to design and learning how to translate my artistic ideas into practical design. | i would go for a walk and do something else because if u want to make a creative idea our brain needs to relax and then come back and look for inspiration on pintrest. and then start working. i believe this workflow is needed especially for people working in creative fields. | 2–4 hours | First, I would go through the brief and check what information needs to be included and what format the poster needs to be in. Then I’d look for some inspiration on Pinterest and other creative websites and see what kind of layouts, styles, and ideas I could use. After that, I’d decide on the overall theme and colour scheme of the poster. Then I’d work on the actual design using things like colours, fonts, images, and other visual elements. I’d make sure the important information is easy to see and the poster doesn’t look too crowded. Once I have a first version, I’d check the spacing, alignment, readability, and whether all the information is correct. I’d make any changes based on feedback and then do one final check before exporting it in the required format and resolution for publish | Canva | i would think about the feedback and ask for reason behind the changes and then clarify what exactly needs to me modified and then i will Prioritize the most important changes, and get a quick confirmation from the design head before publishing. i would take it as a design process rather than taking it personally. | i use AI for lot of stuff and I'm not against it but as an artist i prefer if my designs were mostly human, creative work by AI in my opinion has no soul. it feels bland and i can instantly tell that its AI. There is just something about human designs that intrigue me a lot. A designers work can tell a lot about them in a way, I'm against AI in creative fields (only in creative fields I'm not anti AI lol)

I want to explore beyond what we learn in class, work on things that genuinely interest me, and learn from people who are more experienced than me. I also think MIC would push me to be more involved instead of just staying in my comfort zone. More than anything, I want to meet people, try new things, and be part of a community where I can both learn and contribute. | I want to join the Design Department because I’ve always liked the idea of turning an idea into something visual that people can actually connect with. I want to explore design beyond just making things look good and understand how things like layout, colours, typography and visual storytelling work together. | I think I’d be someone who is willing to learn, take feedback and actually put in the effort to improve. I may not know everything about design right now, but I’m comfortable experimenting and trying different approaches instead of sticking to the first idea I have. I’m also willing to take responsibility for my work and make changes when something can be better. | I want to become more confident with design and learn how to create designs that are not only visually appealing but also communicate something clearly. I’d like to contribute by helping with posters, social media creatives, event promotions and other visual content the club needs. | I don't have extensive professional design experience, but I have experimented with creating posters and other visual content on my own. Most of my experience has been through tools like Canva, where I've tried different layouts, fonts, colours and styles. I'm still learning, but that's one of the reasons I want to join the department. | I wouldn't immediately start designing. I'd first spend a few minutes understanding what the design actually needs to communicate and who it's meant for. Then I'd look at a few references for inspiration and make a quick list of possible directions — for example, the mood, colour palette, typography and main visual. I'd pick the strongest direction and make a very rough layout before worrying about the smaller details. That way, I have something to build on instead of staring at an empty canvas. | 5–7 hours | I'd first understand the brief and collect all the information that absolutely needs to be on the poster, such as the event name, date, venue, registration details and important deadlines. Then I'd look at a few references and decide on a visual direction that fits a hackathon — something that feels energetic and modern without becoming too cluttered. I'd create a rough layout first, deciding what the viewer should notice immediately and what information can come later. | Canva | I'd definitely be disappointed after spending a lot of time on it, but I wouldn't take the feedback personally. I'd first understand exactly what needs to change and why, especially if there are multiple revisions. Then I'd prioritise the important changes and work on them as quickly as possible. I think when working in a team, the final design matters more than being attached to my original version. If I disagree with a change, I'd explain my reasoning respectfully, but I'd ultimately be open to adapting the design based on the team's requirements. | Yes, but mainly as a supporting tool rather than something that creates the entire final design for me. I would use AI for things like brainstorming ideas, exploring different concepts or getting unstuck when I don't know which direction to take.

I’m also interested in MicroCraft and the variety of technical activities and projects included. That’s the kind of environment I’m looking for because I want to move beyond basic Python, work on real projects with a team, and explore different areas of computer science. | i'm interesting in creativity, and to communicate ideas visually. i also have an added advantage of having learned art for five years, which has helped me develop my creativity and attention to detail. i'd love to work with mic to build on this experience by learning more about design. | i believe my creativity, willingness to learn, and ability to think from different perspectives would make me a valuable addition to the team. having learned art for five years, i’ve developed a good sense of creativity and attention to detail. i've also designed some posters and logos for some small scale businesses, which has given me some practical experience in design. i've also did some digital art works using sketchbook app. i’m also open to feedback and willing to put in the effort to learn, contribute, and grow with the team. | i expect to gain more practical experience in design and learn how to turn ideas into visually appealing and meaningful designs. i’d also like to improve my skills by working with people who have different creative perspectives and learning from their feedback. i would like to contribute my creativity and experience in art and designing posters and logos, while actively taking part in MIC’s events, promotions, and other design-related work. | yes. i’ve designed posters and logos for a few small-scale businesses, giving me some practical experience in creating designs based on specific requirements. i have been learning art for five years, since class 7, which has helped me develop my creativity and attention to detail. | i would look upto some of other previous works done by other members in mic for inspiration. i would do a search on that theme to explore some references. i'd shortlist some ideas by taking screenshots and get a rough idea about the work i'm gonna proceed with. this could be done in ten minutes since i already have an idea about how to design posters for different themes. i would create a rough draft or sketch on a piece of paper by drawing blocks as placeholders for texts as this helps me save a lot of time rather than over thinking. i also have a some fonts that i saved to refer to when needed, which helps me work more quickly. | 5–7 hours | i will note down the important details. i would then look at previous mic designs and search for hackathon references to decide on the visual parts. i’d shortlist a few ideas and make a rough sketch using blocks as placeholders for text and other elements. i’d then create the poster digitally, keeping the information clear and the design uncluttered. finally, i’d check the alignment, spacing, spelling and resolution, take feedback from the team, make the necessary changes, and export it in the required format. | Canva, Other | i will first understand exactly what changes are required and why. even if i’ve spent many hours on the poster, i would focus on improving the final result rather than being attached to my original design. i’d discuss the changes with my team, to make the necessary changes, and ask for feedback again if required. i would prioritise the big changes first and make sure the final poster is ready on time. | i've used a lot of ai tools like chat gpt, canva ai, etc. i use chatgpt not only for the process of developing an idea but also for generating necessary ai images. for example, in one of my previous works, i created an image of a stack of books for a library poster by uploading the book names and their front covers, which took roughly 10 minutes. i also use ai tools to remove background and canva a is helpful for suggestions such as fonts and colour choices. but at the end of the day, i do the necessary modifications and creative work by myself with the help of feedbacks.

I want MIC to be a place where I can bring my creativity, explore new ideas, learn from others, and hopefully turn a few crazy ideas into something genuinely useful. | I’ve always enjoyed being a creative person, and graphic design is something I genuinely like experimenting with. I want to join the Design Department because it gives me a chance to turn ideas into visuals that people actually notice, understand and remember. I’d also like to explore how design can work together with my interest in technology and AI. | I can bring a harmony of creativity, technical understanding and a willingness to experiment. I have experience with graphic design and enjoy trying different styles, layouts and AI tools to create visuals, while my development background helps me understand the technical side of the projects I’m designing for. also as i have experience in freelancing for graphic design and earned some clients.. | I want to improve my design skills by working with people who have different creative styles and perspectives, while learning how professional event and brand design actually works. I’d contribute by bringing fresh ideas, helping with posters, social media creatives, event branding and other visual content, and experimenting with new design and AI tools | Yes, i'm currently doing freelancing in graphics and video design for small businesses and companies and they are really happy in getting a visual picture, and the projection of their company... | in that scenario, i wouldn't try to force a perfect idea, i'll jus figure out what the design actually want to communicate and convey, and the target audience and for what purpose it is used... i'll collect few visual references and get some mockup ideas from AI tools for some tech flavor and then start to cook with my creativity. | 2–4 hours | I’d first understand properly the ingredients target audience, key information, theme, branding and where the poster will be used. Ask some mockup ideas with AI, if my stuck with getting a perfect idea. Then I’d collect a few visual references and create a rough layout focusing on hierarchy, making sure the event name, date, venue and registration details are immediately noticeable. After choosing a direction, I’d build the design, refine typography, spacing, colors and visual elements, then check it at both full size and as a small social-media preview. Finally, I’d proofread all the details with the lead or co-worker to confirm, get a quick review if possible, make the final corrections and export it in the required format and dimensions. | Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Figma, Other | I’d first understand the reason behind the changes. I’d discuss the feedback, identify which changes are essential, and prioritize them based on the deadline. I’m completely fine with revising my work as i always have the option to edit and export however the team and target audience needs. the goal is to make the final design better, not to defend my first version. | Yes. I use tools like ChatGPT, Leonardo, Canva AI Magic Layer, etc... and AI image-generation and design tools mainly during the ideation and exploration stage for brainstorming concepts, exploring visual directions, generating references or assets, and getting unstuck when I’m out of ideas. I still prefer to make the final creative decisions and refine the design myself rather than letting AI do everything. I see AI more as a creative assistant to help with the required vision.

If the changes are required and isn't the vibe i would understand why and proceed with it . | yes I would use ai tools mainly for content ideas and to use its creativity on color palettes however using it for final assets would be not good cuz it would be too effortless and not give a good-feeling-for-what-you-did
| 61 | 61 | 2nd Preference | Visaka Sriram | 25BAI1391 | 2nd Year | In-progress | Pending | 2026-08-12 | I love the idea of creating new technologies and bringing things to life. MIC will allow me to be a meaningful contributer of such projects with other such like-minded people. The thrill of building something from scratch is foremost to me, and I'm really looking forward to being able to join a team that genuinely wants to develop something truly unique and out of the box. To build for the sake of engendering something new rather than for a resume or an internship. | I'm looking forward to pushing my boundaries and seeing how I can prepare designs for something tech-related. I'm eager to find out how I can translate tech events or tech themes into striking visual art. | Whenever I encounter a blank canvas, I try to think of new ways to push ideas instead of sticking to a routine process. I'm not afraid to try new methods and new techniques, and I try to think deeply about composition and the thought process that runs through an audience member's head when they see my poster. I have experience working as a Creative team member in the Enactus club, and I was a board member in the e-magazine team at my school. I like to deliver on time as much as possible, and I bring energy, adaptability, and a drive to push aesthetic boundaries on every project. | I hope to improve my design skills, learn from my peers, and collaborate with other like-minded people. I want to refine my work pathway in a big club environment and explore as much as possible. In return, I want to contribute fresh ideas, come up with distinct posters, and offer new perspectives. I'm looking forward to taking ownership for all the design tasks and bringing in a bout of reliability. | I volunteered at an artists' marketing page called Artists Unbound, where I had to create designs/videos to push artworks to more people. I'm also a creative member at Enactus VIT Chennai, and I was a board editor for my school's e-magazine. I've attached a sample of my work at the link below. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1l775xsXTKqoRQRI2qQIABrkdbhib_TGW?usp=sharing | I would first jot down the points I would need to cover in the poster - the main message, the core concept, and so on. Then I would go to Pinterest or Canva templates and do a rapid visual scan of all the templates/posters that suit the project's theme, pulling colour palettes and reference styles. Lastly, I try to sketch a few thumbnail layouts on paper to get a hang of the composition. | 2–4 hours | I would first extract the main details - such as the title, the dates, QR codes, key themes, and so on so that I can gain a bit of clarity on what I have to do. Then I would do a quick scan across design websites to figure out the aesthetic direction I want to take, gathering info on the typography and graphic elements that would capture the essence of a hackathon. Then, as mentioned before, I would map out thumbnails to experiment with composition and placement before laying it all out on Canva. I understand that it would take multiple edits and versions, which is why I would like to spend some time extensively planning it out and seeking inspiration from similar designs. | Canva, Figma | I would allow myself to pause for a while and think about the head's point of view, asking them for clarity on why the change is required. This way, I will be able to understand their exact requirements beyond the feedback they've given. This will help me address the actual problem and would save me a lot of resentment because then I wouldn't have to do too much restructuring. I think constructive criticism is a necessary part of producing quality work. In a team environment, people have different ideas, and while I would try to explain to them the thought process behind my design, I would also comply with theirs, because we all want the same end goal - to come up with a great design. I'm sure that their intention is not to undermine my work. | I don't like to use AI tools for my designs. I instead choose to use apps like Pinterest for inspiration because I find that the different styles and imagery that human work has to offer are much more diverse than an AI-generated design, which feels quite flat to me. I do use AI for tasks like removing backgrounds or changing image hues, but I refrain from using it to actually get design inspiration. Coming up with a design on my own gives me so many ideas, so many new techniques, or a eureka moment for a completely different project. I wouldn't like to outsource that to AI anytime soon because creating by myself is such a nuanced, distinct form of expression. |
